Heidi Rae Kalina
(Marthe cover) mezzo-soprano
is a native of both Roy and Lewistown, Montana. Heidi Rae received her B. of
Music from the U. of Idaho, Moscow. Her performances included Cherubino in
The Marriage of Figaro, and the Duchess in The Gondoliers. She has
participated in numerous opera workshops, competitions, and jazz festivals. Ms.
Kalina currently resides in Billings, where she has been studying and performing
with RO. She appeared as Hansel in Opera Idaho’s Hansel and Gretel school
tour, and sang performances on RO’s tour, in her home town. She has also
appeared in RO’s Summer Opera Stars Concert. Heidi has recently returned
from Los Angeles, where she has been a cast member Baz Luhrmann’s Bohème on
Broadway. This fall, she made her company debut as Cherubino in The
Marriage of Figaro at Opera San José, where they moved into the new
California Theater. In 2005, she will return to Opera San José to sing Mercedes
in Carmen.
