Gennard Lombardozzi

 

Tenor, Gennard Lombardozzi, is rising to the forefront of young professional artists. His honest characterizations combine with a warm and agile instrument to deliver performances that are equally suited to the opera and concert stage..

In the 2009-2010 season, Gennard made his debut with Virginia Opera as Tonio in La Fille du Régiment, sang his first Ernesto in Don Pasquale with Asheville Lyric Opera, and returns to Rimrock Opera to sing Camille in The Merry Widow. In the summer of 2009, Gennard returned to Glimmerglass Opera's prestigious young artist program where he performed in Latin Lovers, a collaboration with Steven Blier and the New York Festival of Song. The previous summer at Glimmerglass Opera, Gennard covered the role of Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, covered Hortensio in Kiss Me Kate, performed Haberdasher in Kiss Me Kate, and made his concert debut with Steven Blier in We Open in Paris.

Mr. Lombardozzi has performed Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Arturo in Lucia di Lamermoor, and Monostatos in The Magic Flute with Knoxville Opera, Little Bat in Susannah and Monostatos in The Magic Flute with Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Nick in La Fanciulla del West, and Goro in Madama Butterfly with Rimrock Opera, and Alfred in Die Fledermaus with Western Plains Opera. As a studio artist with Central City Opera, he covered Nathaniel in Les Contes d'Hoffmann and performed scenes from Susannah, Idomeno, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Carmen. He was also seen as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Little Bat in Susannah with University of Tennessee Opera Theatre, and as Bogdonovich in The Merry Widow, Parpignol in La Boheme, and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro with Fargo-Moorhead Civic Opera.

Other performances include tenor soloist in Schubert's Mass in Eb with Naugatuck Valley Symphony, a tour of Italy with the Alba Music Festival, singing Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, Handel's Messiah and contemporary American repertoire, and a series of collaborative recitals in Connecticut in conjunction with First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. Mr Lombardozzi has also sung as soloist in Mozart's Requiem, Mendelssohn's Judas Maccabaeus, Haydn's Creation, and Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio.
