Garritano
Andrea Garritano returns to Rimrock Opera
Foundation/NOVA Performing Arts for Ellen in
Nosferatu, after having given performances in
the title roles for their productions of
Turandot and Aida.
Recent
engagements include soprano soloist in the Verdi
Requiem with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, and
soloist with the Topeka Festival Singers. She has
sung with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Eugene
Opera, Kansas Concert Opera, KU Opera, Hudson Valley
Opera and others, in roles such as First Lady (Die
Zauberflöte), Violetta, Mme. Herz, Fiordiligi,
Vitellia, Tosca, Cio-Cio San, and others.
She is an active recitalist, presenting standard
lied and chanson repertoire as well as always
including American art song. She has been on world
premiere performances of several new works,
including most recently On Love, a setting by
composer Daniel McIntosh of philosopher Khalil
Gibran’s words for Soprano and Wind Ensemble.
Andrea has a D.M.A. from the University of KS and
has served on the voice faculties of Emporia State
University, Benedictine College, and recently
Washburn University, where as Director of Opera she
Directed and Produced productions of Iolanthe,
L’Elisir d’Amore, The Medium, Amahl and the Night
Visitors, Suor Angelica, and a Händel Project. She
is published in the peer reviewed Opera Journal with
an article based on a portion of her dissertation,
which deals with the Verdi, Shostakovich, and
Pasatieri settings of Lady Macbeth. Andrea is a
native of the Lower Hudson Valley of NY, and now
resides in the Flint Hills of KS with her 8 year old
daughter.
