Dan Allers
Set and lighting
designer, is a 29 year veteran of Musical Theatre,
Theatre, Opera and Ballet as well as participating
in some film, TV, and architectural designs. Dan
brings a wealth of knowledge to both his set and
lighting designs. He started at the Lewiston Civic
Theater where he created more than 25 lighting plots
including Annie, Joseph and The Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Lil Abner; as
well as 16 set designs during his tenure there. At
Camelot Artist Productions, a company mounting
original plays in the Los Angeles area, Dan designed
over 30 productions, to include all lighting and 5
different set designs, between September 1985 and
May 1986. His credits there include such unique
names as Descano, Behind the Mask, Mississippi
Jade, and American Problems 303A. Later,
he worked with Music Circus of Sacramento for two
consecutive summers executing light plots for
different musicals each week for seven weeks
running. He has designed for such stars as Harve
Presnell in The King and I, Noel Harrison in
Camelot, Rex Smith in Oklahoma, Debbie
Boone in The Sound of Music, Helen Ready in
Call Me Madame and Anything Goes,
Vickie Lawrence in Hello Dolly, Nehemiah
Persoff in Oliver, and Loni Ackerman in
Evita. He has also enjoyed being the lighting
designer for Opera Idaho over the past 12 years,
realizing over 15 grand operas on the Morrison
Center Stage. These operas include Don Giovanni,
Tosca and Carmen. Previous sets for
Opera Idaho include Pirates of Penzance, H.M.S.
Pinafore, the Mikado, Magic Flute, Barber of Seville,
and most recently Madame Butterfly.
