Victoria Hart
Contralto
Victoria Hart is an active soloist in both opera
and concert repertoire. A specialist in
character and comedic roles, Ms. Hart has
appeared with companies such as the Knoxville
Opera, Sacramento Opera, Opera Santa Barbara,
Eugene Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Long
Beach Opera and Rimrock Opera.
Future operatic
engagements include the roles of Marcellina in
Le Nozze di Figaro with the Greensboro
Opera, La Zia Principessa and Zita in Il
Trittico with Opera Santa Barbara, Emilia in
Otello with the Fresno Opera, Ruth in
Pirates of Penzance with the Evansville
Symphony Orchestra, and a return to the Rimrock
Opera as Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus.
Ms. Hart has
been a featured soloist with the Bakersfield
Symphony Orchestra, the Angeles Chorale in Los
Angeles, the New Amsterdam Singers in New York
City, the Albuquerque Chamber Orchestra,
Bakersfield Masterworks Chorale, Los Robles
Master Chorale, Master Chorale of Santa Barbara,
Santa Barbara Choral Society and Musica Antiqua
of Santa Barbara. In 1999 and 2000 Ms. Hart was
heard as the alto soloist on the KDB Radio
broadcasts of The Messiah. Ms. Hart’s
solo oratorio and concert repertoire includes
such works as the alto solos in the Mozart and
Duruflé Requiems; the Bach b minor
Mass and Cantatas no. 4, 106 and
147; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and
Missa Solemnis; the Haydn Theresian Mass;
Mendelssohn’s Elijah; Puccini’s Messa
di Gloria; the Pergolesi Stabat Mater,
the Rossini Stabat Mater; the Holst
Hymn of Jesus and many others.
Ms. Hart earned
her D.M.A. in Vocal Performance at UCSB, and
teaches voice privately in Santa Barbara and Los
Angeles. In addition, she is currently a member
of the voice faculty of Westmont College. In
2004 Ms. Hart won the UCSB Concerto Competition,
and was a finalist in the 2003 Liederkranz
Wagnerian Singer competition in New York City.
Ms. Hart has been an apprentice at the Sarasota
Opera and attended the AIMS Summer Vocal
Institute in Graz, Austria. She has coached
with the late Alberta Masiello, Neal Goren,
Valéry Ryvkin and Walter Taussig and has studied
acting with Nina Foch and Gary Race. In
addition to her work as a singer, Ms. Hart has
written works for the stage which were performed
at Lake George Opera, Music Academy of the West
and SUNY Purchase. In 2000 Ms. Hart was
featured in a nationally televised commercial
for Merrill Lynch.
