Megan
King, soprano
Megan King currently
serves as Instructor of voice and teaches Vocal Diction at the University of
South Alabama. She is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music at University
of Missouri – Kansas City with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance, where
she studied with Internationally acclaimed Mezzo-soprano, Inci Bashar. Miss
King received her undergraduate degree from William Jewell College with a
double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance, where she studied
with Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
Miss King has performed lead roles with
opera companies across the United States including Barbarina in Le nozze di
Figaro with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Miss King has recently performed
with Mobile Opera the roles of Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Norina in Don
Pasquale, Liù in Turandot, Betty in Sunset Blvd., Clara in The Light in the
Piazza, Cunegonde in Candide and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. With Rimrock Opera
in Billings, Montana, Miss King has performed Valencienne in The Merry Widow
and Frasquita in Carmen. Miss King has performed the roles of Emily Webb in
Our Town, Monica in The Medium, Rose in Street Scene, Nannetta in Falstaff,
Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Fidelia in Edgar, Della in The Gift of the
Magi, Christmas Future/Mrs. Kindheart in Gilbert & Sullivan Christmas Carol,
and the Maiden in Wise Women with Civic Opera Theater of Kansas City.
Miss King also enjoyed performing with the Kansas
City Puccini Festival for nine festival seasons. Her previous roles with the
festival include Magda in La rondine, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Suor
Genevieve in Suor Angelica, Liù in Turandot, Mimi inLa bohème, and Kate in
